· ESPN Magazine is a bi-weekly magazine published in Bristol, Connecticut first issued on
March 11, 1998.
· It covers all sorts of sports including MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, college basketball, and college football.
· 2,046,968 copies are circulated bi-weekly.
The magazine regularly features different columns and departments including Two Way: a segment in which Stuart Scott answers questions from readers, The Biz: a business perspective of sports, The Post: a reflection of the previous issue in which readers give comments, Zoom: a two page picture in each issue, The Jump: a mix of regular features and many more composed by their talented staff of writers and editors.
The cover of each magazine usually features a popular athlete of the time catching the eye of the reader. As is any magazine, it is full of ads. Of course, because the vast majority of the magazine’s readers are men, the ads are filled with beautiful women. Many of the features use humor as a persuasive technique to keep the reader’s interested. What makes this magazine unique is that it is written by all Sportscenter writers and is one of the only magazines started by a television network.
Overall, ESPN Magazine is the Cadillac of sports magazines and would keep any serious sports fan very satisfied.
Classic example of persuasion through humor.
