In the first six games of the Boston Red Sox' 2011 regular season, nothing was going right for them. The bats weren't hitting and the pitchers weren't pitching. Many baseball annalists predicted the Red Sox to win the World Series, but with a not so impressive start critics are quick to call them a bad team.
Despite having a poor first start and a career-low season last year, Red Sox ace Josh Beckett went 8 scoreless innings while giving up 2 singles, 1 walk, and striking out 10 hitters.
Josh Beckett returned to his 2007 and 2009 form tonight and lead the Red Sox to a 4-0 victory against the New York Yankees. If Beckett can remain consistent in getting outs then perhaps the Sox really have a chance at a World Series Championship this year.
Beckett has given the Red Sox some hope tonight after their shut out victory in Boston. He is still seen by the managing staff as the team's ace being that the rest of the bullpen is so young. I believe that if Beckett remains consistent this year the Red Sox should be a serious threat for a World Series run.
